DESIGN YOUR OWN SILK SCARF

Design and create you own silk scarf. Using a variety of silkscreens (birds, flowers, Chinese symbols, and more) or by freehand, you will create a surface design and leave with a finished one-of-a-kind wearable art piece.

TOOLS FOR YOUR WATERCOLOR TOOLBOX

April 2 - May 21

Explore a variety of watercolor techniques and materials to create unique images. Experimenting with tools including: bar soap, spray starch, pen and ink, saran wrap, masking fluid, and a straw, while also exploring a variety of papers (cold press and Yupo) painting exercises will include washes and backgrounds (muted, dynamic, beaded, toned, and graded) to create painting starts. This workshop is a great fit for any skill level.

BOOKMAKING

FRIDAY 10AM - 3PM

 

April 17

Create a handmade journal in this hands-on bookmaking class. Learn how to fold pages, construct an accordion-style spine, and bind your book using Japanese stab binding or decorative sewn techniques. Customize your journal with mixed acrylic paint or decorative papers, and finish it with a magnetic closure or a button, bead, and thread.

You'll leave with a completed, one-of-a-kind journal perfect for drawing journaling, or gifting.

FIRST STEPS IN WATERCOLOR

THURSDAY 6PM - 8PM

An introduction to the magical world of watercolor, taught from the ground up. Practice brushstrokes, learn to control water, and explore use of salt, plastic wrap, and splatter while creating interesting compositions. The class is designed to encourage creative exploration while supporting artistic growth in a fun and welcoming environment. Great for beginners  as well as those with some experience.

PASTEL INNOVATIONS WORKSHOP

MAY 16, 17, + 18  10AM - 4PM

Learn new ways to simply and approach your subjects to express more energy in your work though mark making and layering of pastel with other materials. Soft pastel and pan pastels will be used together with mixed media. All skill levels welcome!

In this one day class you will learn the Neuland and Broadway scripts, both popular in the Art Deco era, using the 6mm Pilot Parallel pen (included with material fee). Everything you need will be provided. Come for a relaxing and enjoyable experience exploring calligraphy.
