The Emerald Art Center presents:
"Land and Sea" by the Pacific Rim Art Guild.
Each participating artist has taken inspiration from a verse or verses in the Bible chapter 104 of Psalms.
Plus shows by featured members,
Demetra Kalams and Sarah Bloom Kinser.
Demetra Kalams is showing, "Spring, The Lightness of Being."
Most of these paintings were completed this past year. Each painted with the changes of the seasons, a collection of internal and external visions. The latest of these paintings is the “Lakehouse”, from photos I took on a hike near Fish Lake. Now entering the season of Spring, which brings to life all that had slumbered. She is grateful to exhibit her paintings here at Emerald Art Gallery.
Sarah Bloom Kinser has lived in Springfield and the Willamette Valley for over 47 years. At an early age, a love for the outdoors was instilled as a child. Together with her husband of 37 years – they enjoy camping, archery hunting and fishing.
March whispers hints of the year's grand adventures! Her paintings are like postcards from Oregon: imagine a road trip zooming east on 126, leading to a hidden water seep where elk gather for a sip. Or swing west on 126, where the coast flaunts its sunsets and sprinkles seashells like confetti. Where will 2026 whisk her away to?
In her early years in school, art gave her direction and was fortunate to learn from two special Art Teachers.
She specializes in murals, acrylics, and mixed media. Professionally, she painted murals at Springfield Cabela’s, Lane County Health Services-Pediatrics and many Holiday windows. Her art has also been featured in local galleries & Friday Art Walks.
When not in her studio, she sets up in Archery Elk Camp in September and enjoy painting in our boat along local rivers during the spring and summer months.
In her professional endeavors, Sarah offers Mobile Paint Parties across Lane County and neighboring cities. www.sarahshinesart.com
And a memorial show by Joan Bray.
Joan Bray combined her love of nature with her love of poetry to create wonderful
works of art. She was born in Wales and grew up in England, coming to Eugene as a
war bride after she met and married a G.I., Alvin Bray, during World War II. She was
a longtime botanist, bird-watcher and educator, and could often be seen on the Delta Ponds bike path where she would point out flowers and birds to anyone who walked by!
Joan was one of the founding members of Valley Calligraphy Guild. After taking a
class in “Decorated Letters”, she became very interested in illuminated manuscripts.
This resulted in the purchase of many books, and visits to exhibits in the British
Library, various cathedrals, and the National Gallery as well as the Vatican Library
exhibit in the Library of Congress. Some of her “Decorated Letter” pieces were on
display at Mt. Angel Abbey and other venues.
