Capture the movement of water and the grandeur of Mountains in this informative class. Artists should be comfortable with the medium of their choice.

Exploring Art with Ellen (Children's Class!)

Children will love hands on exploration of different mediums in Art. Each month they will be presented with story, culture, and the exportation of different mediums.

 

The 2nd Saturday of each month is reserved specially for your child ages 6-11 (9/10, 10/8, 11/12, 12/10)

Weekend Splash (ages 15-103)

This class is for the true beginner, with no experience needed, or someone who would like to go back to the beginning to catch all the details. Wary students welcomed. Learn the basics of watercolor from the very beginning; materials, washes, brush work, and seeing the world with new eyes.  You’ll learn about papers, paints and brushes in a fun relaxed setting, and come away with amazing results!

Next Steps in Watercolor

Beginner and Intermediate level students are encouraged to have basic skills in brush work and creating washes. Continue your watercolor work with lessons in negative painting, color, light and shadow, composition, and new techniques and all new projects in a supportive environment. Weekend Splash is a great beginning. Class will consist of demonstration, time to practice, ask questions, and to positively critique the work.

The Magic of Color

Why do green and blue make mud and what ARE the primary colors? You will learn the differences between warm and cool colors and how to mix them in this eye-opening class.  Artists should be comfortable with the medium of their choice.

Skyscapes

Painting gorgeous skies is a matter of thinking shapes!  Join us to strengthen your skills in edges, light, shapes, value, color and perspective, fabulous color and the grandness of sky. Your instructor will simplify shapes through demos for you to be able to see how they all fit together, with lots of time to paint. Students should be comfortable with their chosen medium of oil, watercolor, pastel, or acrylic.

Día de los Muertos Altar Boxes

Día de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a time to remember our loved ones who have died. This workshop will teach you the history of this multi-day holiday that is recognized worldwide while creating a unique and traditional altar box or "Nichos" to take home. You will have the opportunity to honor and remember your loved one by creating offerings in the form of beautiful altars. The challenge for you will be to think outside the box, get creative, have fun. All levels are welcome. This workshop is appropriate for anyone aged 18 years and above.

Tools for Your Watercolor Toolbox

This workshop will give you tools to tackle watercolor, which may seem daunting to many people. The challenge for you will be to let go, get out of the way, not worry about the outcome, and let the paints and paper play together. We’ll use different types of paper and techniques to create unique, fresh starts, one of which you will bring to a finished painting. All levels welcome.

Only requirement: be ready to play and explore and enjoy how watercolors can make amazing images.
