"Only
the Divine Artist could create the magnificent world around us.
How generous He is to allow us to share in its interpretation."
Dotty
Light , Artist
How
can anyone adequately explain the emotion, the wonder, the excitement
of the world of Art and Artists? Perhaps the best way is to see
how the human creation longs for beauty of nature...the form,
the color, the movement, the sound of the world around us. Involvement
in the Arts...whether painting, music, dance, sculpture or other
artistic creation is truly "food for the soul."
"I was always a dreamer, always drawn to the aesthetic,"
says Dotty Light. Drawn to the humanitarian arts, she studied
nursing and practiced briefly as a registered nurse before marrying
her musician husband Frank. Together they brought up a family
of eight children. "My love of design, color and creative
arts, as well as the medical arts was well challenged!"
Dotty began her career with extensive studies on her own. Studying
volumes of inspiring art books, she also took classes and attended
may workshops. Included in her outstanding mentors are Merlin
Enabrit, Del Gish, William Reece, Sergei Bongart, Don Ricks, Keith
Ward, Howard Carr, Byron Pickering and Anita Wolff. She loves
all art, but her overwhelming passion is impressionism. Working
in oils, acrylics, pastels and watercolors her subject range from
people and places to still lifes and florals.
She has been active in local arts, has served as director and
President of the Emerald Empire Art Association and has been a
juror for a number of regional art shows.
Her award-winning work has been included in many shows and exhibit,
including a large one-artist show in California at the Huntington
Beach Library and Cultural Center. Her paintings are in many private
collections in this country and in Great Britain, New Zealand
and Australia.
