Will
Klausmeier, Artist
For
fifty years Will Klausmeier was a chemist first and an artist,
when there was time. In actuality that meant a twenty-year hiatus
from painting while his children grew and he traveled the world
consulting on biomass projects. The stunning scenery of the Pacific
Northwest seduced him away from science and commanded the application
of oils to canvas as his true vocation. Klausmeier is a pure landscape
artist, rendering rocks, sky, water, and foliage in a style reminiscent
of the impressionists with bold use of color and texture to convey
a sense of the natural presence. He seeks to emulate Van Gogh
but without the drama. Most works are initiated on location, but
Klausmeier also works from photographs of favorite spots with
more complex logistics. Though new to the art business, Klausmeier's
paintings are shown in galleries on both coasts as well as on
this web site. He works with a variety of canvas sizes and is
frequently commissioned to paint people's favorite spots and personal
vistas.
