Born of a French mother and Mexican father, I was infused with art from both countries through my childhood, spending most Sundays visiting museums, galleries, archeological sites, known castles, catholic churches and cathedrals with history dating back hundreds of years.

I have always been lured by the mystic and rich history of ancient cultures. I moved to Oregon in 1980 but kept learning and been amazed at the beauty of cultures from around the world. In 2006, I journeyed with my husband back to Mexico, becoming at once tour guide and tourist. I found myself looking at the Aztec and Mayan civilizations in a new way. I felt the need to bring back some of the beauty, legends, and life of those now gone.

With the support, teaching, and encouragement of my husband Edward Van Hoy, I decided to do it through oil paintings on wood panels. I like wood panels because I am not restrained to the easel. The panels give me the freedom to move to the tabletop where I can employ my techniques. I started painting at the beginning of 2007, learning some techniques and applying them as I went. The more I painted the more I became interested in becoming a full time artist. In February of 2008 we went back to Mexico and visited different ruins and museums, coming back with more ideas and excitement for this newfound passion.

By the middle of March I was ready to jump into the adventure full time, I gave my notice at work and as of April 1st, 2008 became a full time artist. In May I joined Emerald Art Center as a member and got my website done.

My hope is to incite interest and curiosity for ancient civilizations, to entice people to go beyond what little is told about such cultures and get to know them personally in their daily activities, believes, and dreams.
