Brooks with his WSO "Award of Distinction" Painting, Sophie

I try to paint how the world looks to me. Whether the subject is flowers, abstracts, landscapes, or people, watercolors allow me to interpret life and freeze it in time and space. Using watercolors I can only hope to add a small fragment to the vast Oregon art scene. I have been influenced by David Milne and several Northwest artists: including Nelson Sandgren, Eric Sandgren, Lois Enman, and Humberto Gonzalez.
I have attended workshops and classes by Lois Enman, Eric Sandgren, Val Persoon, and Ron Ranson.

In 2002 my wife, Peggie and I moved to Eugene Oregon from Colorado. In 2004 I joined the Watercolor Society of Oregon, WSO and the Emerald Empire Art Association. In 2005 and 2006 I had works included in the WSO spring shows. My 2006 WSO entry received an "Award of Distinction". I am currently painting with the Wet-n-Wild Water-media Workshop at the Campbell Center in Eugene.

Prior to moving to Eugene I worked for IBM for 31 years in Texas. My computer programming projects varied from Gemini, Apollo, and Space Shuttle at NASA's HoustonSpaceCenter, to word processing, networks and personal computer operating systems in Austin. In addition to my drawing and watercolor classes, I have degrees in mathematics and computer science.
