Mel Vincent

Mel was born in Nampa, Idaho in 1925, and graduated from high school there in 1943. After serving three years in the Navy Air Corps, he attended the Minneapolis School of Art. He operated a free lance art and photo studio in Minneapolis until 1960, then worked as art director for Breuner's Furniture of California, 1960-1962. Mel moved to Eugene in 1962 to be advertising/art director for Rubenstein's Furniture. He opened his own art/photo studio in 1980.

Now semi-retired, Mel spends his spare time painting the Oregon outdoors, primarily in watercolor.

Mel has self-published two books of his Oregon paintings: "Mel Vincent's Oregon Portfolio" and "Mel Vincent's Portfolio of Oregon Country Stores."  Both were numbered and signed limited editions.

Over the years, Mel has received many ribbons from the Lane County Fair art shows, as well as two Lane County Purchase Awards. As a past member of the Watercolor Society of Oregon, he received three honor awards and three Best of Show Awards.

Exhibits include:
University of Oregon Focus Gallery, Crossroads Art Center, Baker City; Maude Kerns Art Center; Oregon College of Education; Portland Art Museum Rental Sales Gallery feature show; Eugene Public Library; Nampa, Idaho Public Library.
