Will Klausmeier

For fifty years Will Klausmeier was a chemist first and then an artist, when there was time. In actuality that meant a twenty-year hiatus from painting while his children grew and he traveled the world consulting on biomass projects. The stunning scenery of the Pacific Northwest seduced him away from science and commanded the application of oils to canvas as his true vocation.

Klausmeier was a pure landscape artist, rendering rocks, sky, water, and foliage in a style reminiscent of the impressionists with bold use of color and texture to convey a sense of the natural presence. He sought to emulate Van Gogh but without the drama. Most works were initiated on location, but Klausmeier also worked from photographs of favorite spots with more complex logistics.

Though new to the art business, Klausmeier's paintings were shown in galleries on both coasts as well as on this web site. He worked with a variety of canvas sizes and is frequently commissioned to paint people's favorite spots and personal vistas.
