Dottie Chase

Dottie Chase is one of Eugene, Oregon's leading portrait artists. She is also a well known advocate and supporter of the arts. Her administrative and business acumen have advanced the stability and growth of many local galleries including: Emerald Arts Center Gallery, Springfield, Oregon, where she served as president from 2001-04; Gallery at the Airport, Eugene, Oregon; and Jacobs Gallery, Eugene, Oregon.

Dottie's fresh, clean watercolor work has earned her an "Award of Distinction" from the Watercolor Society of Oregon. She has won several first place awards at the Mayor's Art Show and at the Lane County Fair, where she earned the Director's Choice Award and the Bronze Medal of Merit. Dottie was given by the board of directors of the Lane Arts Council the 1999 Alvord award given annually to an individual in recognition of exemplary service and dedication to the advancements of the arts in Lane County, Oregon.

Commercially, besides her portrait work, Dottie is the owner and president of Fri-Jos, Inc. She has volunteered on the boards of the Lane Community College Foundation, Oregon's tourism council, the Eugene Chamber of Commerce and Eugene Downtown Rotary. She was selected as Mrs. Oregon in 1959, and as LCCO's Woman of the Year in 1979. She has served on several art selection panels, including those for LTD and the Federal Courthouse.
